1. Appreciate your customers. Show them you care by mailing them a personalized note or thank you card. This will clearly separate you from your competitors and brand you as someone who took the time to care about them as a person and appreciated them enough to send something to them in the mail.
2. Add them to a mailing list and email them on a regular basis with important information that is relevant to their everyday needs. They will see you as the go-to expert in your field the next time they need your services.
3. Take the time to get to know your customers and send them links or copies of articles of interest about them or about relevant issues in their industry or their favorite hobby. Find out if they have pets, what their children do, how they spend their time outside of work and look for ways to send them information on their favorite past-times. They will appreciate that you remember and took the time to think of them. And they will think of you the next time someone asks them for a referral to someone in your area of expertise.
4. Post free how-videos on youTube or on your website that solve small problems that your target market are struggling with. Or post free content on your blog that is heavily searched by your target market and offer them a free solution or suggestion that will help them in their business and entice them to signup on your mailing to learn more and stay informed.
5. Host free online Q&A sessions on a regular basis for your target market and existing customers, either via a conference call or webinar, where they can ask you industry-specific questions and get your expert advice answers. This will automatically brand you as an expert in your field and will go a long way to attract new prospects and retain existing clients.
The more you implement soft-selling into your marketing strategy, the more successful and satisfied you will become and the more successful your business will be.
